To Get Away from it All

On Sunday, Scott, William, & I drove down to Monterey to stay with my parents at their beach house for a few days.
Yesterday morning, we went to First Awakenings - the best restaurant for breakfast ever (actually, Mama's in San Fran is also a favorite)! The portions are huge (honestly, they're too big), & the food is incredible - we always get an egg/potato skillet & wheatberry pancakes.
Will riding the tractor:
Later on in the day, we took a walk on the beach just down the street from my parents' place. It was a beautiful day, albeit a little cold.
I swear, I'm only ever in the pictures if I take the picture myself, or hand the camera over to Scott & remind him that I'm part of the family too (he's not a single dad!).
Playing with the kelp:
Back home for a break:
Will has the most squishable, kissable cheeks - I just love them.
Finally, last evening, we went for a drive around Carmel to look at the beautiful houses there. This particular house had such an interesting roof - it's all wavy - & the brick on the outside was crooked & so different.
A drive-by picture of the beach (which is why the picture is so blurry):
Home from the drive: Will standing up by himself - he actually stood there for quite a long time:
It was so good to travel to Monterey for the few days that we could. We had such a great time & loved spending time away from it all - one last hurrah before Scott starts school (in just over a week).

  1. I love Monterey...and Will's cheeks too.

He was so fun to play with in California.

  2. I can't believe that Will is standing, that is so exciting! I love his hair, it looks so much like Carson's, very long on top. I would have to agree Will's cheeks are darling but those eyes are AMAZING! Looks like you guys had a great time!

  3. looks like you had fun!! we are going to miss you guys:)

  4. I'm glad you guys got to spend some nice time in Monterey. I can't believe Scott's starting school already! Liz, seriously, if you need ANYTHING, please call me. How exciting to see William stand up on his own. He is so adorable!

  5. It looks like you guys had so much fun and the breakfast looks so good.

  6. Looks like a great trip. Will looks so old in that last picture! And standing?! Amazing how fast it goes isn't it? I know what you mean about being in pictures... I have the same story. :)

  7. that breakfast looks GOOD!!!!! and so does your mama, she's one hot lady!

and I know what you mean... i don't think i have a SINGLE updated pic of me since i'm always the one BEHIND the camera!!! and Taylor just forgets (or i hoard the clicker?)

ps. um, where was Will in this post? All I saw were tons of pics of a little BOY not a baby!!! OHmigosh, how'd he get so BIG in the last couple weeks??? he's like a little man!!! CUTE little man!

  8. Wow that is amazing guys! I love Will's hair standing on end. Too cute.
