Visitors from Vancouver

Our summer so far has been pretty uneventful. We haven't been living abroad, and we didn't participate in Muggle Madness. We did however, have Rich and Becky's boys come and stay with us for four days before they continued on to my parent's home.

About Brandon:
1. I can't believe I have a 15-year-old nephew who's 2 inches taller than me and wears size 13 shoes.
2. He watches science shows for fun.
3. He's my arch nemesis in cards.

About Spencer:
1. He loves motocross & soccer.
2. He loves to tell exaggerated stories (without drawing breath from one story to the next).
3. When I took the boys to Costa Vida for lunch, he got a burrito w/ only chicken, rice, & beans - missing out on the entire Costa Vida experience.

About Chase:
1. He loves skinny jeans.
2. He still wants to be a chef when he grows up.
3. He is a dancing fool.

How we spent our days:
Spencer & Chase wrestled while throwing pillows, a blow-up mattress, and a soft Utah, Jazz basketball around the house. (Spencer's on the left & Chase is on the right.)

Scott joined in every once in a while.

Brandon played on his laptop.

or shot foam discs from a toy gun at his brothers while they wrestled.

We watched movies.

We went to a water park.

We went bowling (and I beat my best score of 37 with a 68 - I was on fire! & no, I wasn't using bumper pads).

We played cards.
Scott gave all of us a tour of his fire station.

This is a creepy dummy that I thought was a real person at first. Firefighters use them for drills.

Scott's first fire and only three houses burnt down.

This was my first real fire. The house in the background was the structure that I was assigned to protect (notice that it is still there). The winds were so crazy and the fire was really fast moving. Two abandoned houses and one occupied mobile home caught fire. It turned out to burn about 40 acres after 3 alarms were called. Liz turned on the TV and freaked out because she knew that it was in my first in area. She called her mom crying because she could not get me on my cell phone (I was a little busy).

Hello from the Perrymans

Well . . . I've always had a hard time keeping track of things happening in my life, so I thought starting a blog might help me with that. For those of you who don't know, Scott and I are living in CA. We've been here for almost a year now, and we just bought our first home in April. Scott is working for the fire department as a firefighter/paramedic. He's on a one-year probation that ends in December. We'll both be extremely happy when that's over. I am currently working at Pottery Barn (I'm hoping to quit soon, but can't get myself to leave the discount) and am nannying a little girl named Kennedy (she's about 21 months and full of energy). I am also on summer break from grad school, trying to discover why I'm putting myself through so much misery. I've been in school without a break since preschool, and I'm starting to get a little burnt out.
