Rice Cereal, Sod, & Golf

William tried out rice cereal for the first time last Monday (I know I'm a little late posting this). I stripped him down to his diaper, sat him in his Bumbo, & shoveled cereal in his mouth. He hardly swallowed anything - he just automatically stuck his tongue out, & after a few forced spoonfuls, I determined he needed a break. Since that first attempt, he has gotten better at swallowing the cereal, but still hates it. My mom & I also tried him on carrots this week, & he ate a surprisingly good amount. I love watching William go through these different experiences. It is so much fun to see him learn or try new things (on that note, Will rolled over on his own for the first time on Wednesday - once from back to front & then once from front to back. I think it was more a fluke than anything, but I'm so proud of him). Oh yea - William is also 5-months-old now. Wow - I really need to get better about updating this blog in a timely fashion.

Eating rice cereal for the first time - March 9
After doing so much in the backyard, Scott finally decided to hire someone to put in the sprinklers & lay the sod. So last Friday, our friend, Andrew, helped Scott carry the sod to the backyard, & then we all watched as Victor & the other worker rolled out our grass & made our backyard look so much more complete. Scott, Andrew, & our neighbor, Aaron, tried to help roll the grass out, but decided that they would be of greater assistance by staying out of the way. I'll post updated pictures of the yard later this week?
Last Saturday, we went mini golfing with our friends Jonathan & Jillian. It was such a beautiful day & we wanted to get our money's worth, so we decided to play both courses.

  1. Wow! I can't believe that Will is 5 months old. Time goes by so quickly. I love the picture of Will eating rice cereal...so cute. Carson hated rice cereal but loved carrots so I decided to mix them and then he at the rice cereal without as much as a fight. All of these new stages that Will is going through is so fun, enjoy it they change so quickly.

  2. I love Will's face in the picture of him eating cereal. We mix Owen's cereal with Gerber's apple-banana juice, which makes it a bit tastier, and he likes it a lot better that way.

  3. I was so happy about the update! Will looks so happy in his bumbo to be eating his cereal. Haha. I love it. It took a while for Opal to warm up to it but now whenever she eats her cereal she says, "Mmmm" in between every bite. She loves her carrots, and applesauce, however, she literally throws up at the taste of squash... after 2 weeks of trying to get her to eat squash it is time to move on to the sweet potatoes! Happy days.

  5. He might like his cereal better with some carrots or applesauce mixed in. My kids always hated that stuff plain. I'm starting Leah on rice cereal today. Spoon feeding is a pain, so I've been putting it off, but it's time.

Weahl looks like such a cute little buddha in his Bumbo.

  6. WOW, Will is already 5 months? Kids grow fast for sure! Yay for rolling over. Isn't it exciting to see him go through different stages? You look awesome by the way! We miss you guys! By the way... Congrats on Scott getting into the PA program. I heard you will be spending time going back and forth to your parents house. If you need help or need to talk to someone, please give me a call.
