The bookshelves in our living room have bothered me since I first "organized" them. Call me weird, but I got irritated just about every time I happened to look over at them - they weren't filled up, & there were too many knick-knacks placed awkwardly inside. I'm a huge perfectionist, so I had to do something to fix the problem.
So almost two weeks ago, I got the urge to redo the bookcases. I emptied the shelves, carried a bunch of books downstairs from our study, & organized the books by genre (& size or color when necessary). I also had to keep William entertained - he doesn't like to be left alone to play for very long (which is why this project took me at least 5 hours - of course, my OCD added to the length of time as well - I'm surprised I didn't catalog everything). Before:The finished result - (still not absolutely perfect, but SO much better than before). The up-close pictures are for my own enjoyment - I'm sure everyone else could care less about this project.
I love these projects! It looks great - much better, I agree. Good of you to get this done in a day. I pull everything out and I am lucky if it gets back the same day.
ReplyDeleteWow, Liz, this looks terrific!!! I could totally use a little bit of that good old fashioned OCD you've got... I STILL don't have our master bedroom set up (a YEAR after we have moved in!) The book shelves are awesome-- you and your mama have "shelving skillz" for sure!

That looks great liz. I love little William laying on the floor thinking "What is my Mommy doing???" Sooo cute!
ReplyDeleteVery nice!!! Yeah OCD and being a perfectionist definitely runs in the Edgren line! I would have done the same thing!!! And I have to admit, I use to have my books, CDs and DVDs entered into a database on my computer... so you are not alone!
ReplyDelete...we are a lot alike.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I actually do care because I'm always looking for ideas on how to decorate my own house (if I ever get one), and I really like this style. A good mix of books (which I have a TON of) and other decorative items. Looks awesome!
