Video of William Crawling

My mom is in the midwest for the summer & misses her grandson so much - she keeps telling me to put a video of him crawling on the blog, so she can see her baby, so here it is. It starts with William the first day that he crawled (June 18) & then ends with a clip from earlier today (he's still army crawling, but is much more proficient at it).

Mother Goose

Today, I went to "Mother Goose on the Loose" with my friend Tiffani & her son Carson. For those who don't know, it's an interactive singing/story-telling specTACular at the public library - intended for children, but I enjoyed it just as much as the most enthusiastic child in there. (Pictures taken w/ phone, so not so good at catching action shots)
I love these two boys in their coordinating stripes & name tags on their backs (so they didn't take the stickers off). Even though I'd woken Will up from his 10 minute nap in the car, he was still so happy & full of energy. He didn't whine once from being tired - he was just loving all the fun things to do w/ the big kids.Shaking the maracas while saying "Ahhh, Ahhh" in his monotone voice (it's my favorite when he does that). Trying to decipher what the volunteer older ladies at the library are telling him to do next - I love how he's curling his toes up while holding the maraca upside down & paying such close attention to what's going on.
I can't wait to take William back again - I had a blast watching him experience & enjoy something so fun & new .
And on a side note, William went from a lying down position to a sitting one all by himself for the first time yesterday. It sure does make chasing after & playing with those toys a whole lot easier.

Eating Watermelon for the First Time

It was so funny watching Will eat watermelon for the first time. When he'd first start sucking, he'd shake (which I caught a small bit of him doing on the camera). He loved that cold watermelon juice.

8 months!

William is 8-months-old today!

  • He has pretty much gotten over his first illness (he's been sick for the last few weeks - snotty nose, cough, fever)
  • he rolls around & spins all over the floor
  • attempts to clap his hands by slapping the top of one hand with the other while raising his arms up & down (does that make sense?)
  • plays peek-a-boo & anticipates where I'll pop up (sometimes he finds me before I can 'surprise' him - he's such a smart boy)
  • pulls himself onto my lap while I'm on the floor
  • turns his head faster than I can wipe his snotty nose
  • sucks air in to talk, so he sounds like his lungs are going to collapse
  • loves splashing in the water (he soaks everything! he doesn't care if the water splashes right in his face either (& I mean a big splash), he just keeps on going w/o batting an eye)
  • leans over while in the sitting position to rest his head on my leg while playing with his toy
  • loves strangers
  • LOVES dogs
  • sticks his tongue out a lot & pants
  • laughs when I kiss & blow raspberries on his neck
  • has 4 teeth
  • says "mama" & "dada" even though he doesn't know what they mean
  • snuggles with me while we nap in my bed (this is a new favorite of mine, though he usually naps in his crib)
  • holds up his arms when he sees me coming to pick him up
  • weighs about 17 lb 12 oz
  • calms down or smiles when I sing to him (a huge bonus for me since I've always been scared to sing in front of others - he's the only person I'll really sing in front of b/c he won't judge me, at least not yet)

I could go on & on - my little guy is such a sweetheart. I love him so much & realize how blessed I am to have him - he's my miracle baby.

New Moon Trailer

I'm a total nerd & love the Twilight series - here's the 1st official New Moon trailer. Of course the books & movies (thus far) are cheesy, but I like some cheese now and again. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited for November to come.

1st Teeth

After a few rough days (weeks?), William finally had his first tooth pop up. I noticed it Sunday morning, & then two days later, his second tooth popped through. It must be such a relief not having that pressure on his gums anymore. My little boy handled it like a champ.

UPDATE: Today I noticed that Will has a third tooth coming in (top front/left).
